Summary

A campus visit helps you picture your child’s school day. Use this checklist to prepare questions and understand what comes next in NCFE’s registration process.

Choosing a school involves everyday questions: how your child will get there, who they can turn to for help and how learning fits into the school day. A campus visit gives you time to ask those questions in person.

For NCFE registrations in 2027–28, the campus visit is step 3, after the enquiry and paid application form. It comes before the programme briefing, Principal meeting and offer of admission. Arrange the visit with your chosen campus team so they can confirm a suitable time and tell you what to bring.

Download your parent preparation pack

Download the parent preparation pack (PDF, 3 pages)

Use the document checklist, age worksheet and campus-visit planner before your appointment. You can print the pack or fill in its fields on your device, then bring your questions and notes to the visit.

Before the visit

Share your child’s date of birth, the requested grade and any questions you would like the team to address. For early-years grades and Grade 1, NCFE uses completed age as on 1 June 2027.

Confirm who should attend and whether any application documents are needed at the appointment. If your child is joining you, explain the visit simply: you are going to see a school and meet the people who can answer your questions.

Write down your priorities. You may want to understand the daily journey, the transition from your child’s current school or the early-years routine. Having a short list helps you use the appointment well.

A mind map for your visit

Start with your child’s school day, then work through these six topics. Circle the questions that matter most to your family and note anything to revisit during the programme briefing.

Ask about learning at your child’s stage

Use questions that relate to the grade you are considering:

  • What does a typical day look like for this grade?

  • How are lessons and activities organised?

  • How do teachers identify when a child needs additional support?

  • How are parents informed about progress and concerns?

  • What should a family know about moving into this programme?

The programme briefing is step 4, after the visit. Note anything you would like explained in more detail there. For Grade 11 or 12 at CV Raman Nagar, ask for the confirmed streams and subject combinations for 2027–28.

Understand the daily routines

Ask about arrival, dispersal, meals and the arrangements relevant to your child’s grade. For a younger child, you may also want to discuss settling in, personal-care routines and how families communicate with the school.

Keep questions specific. “Who should I contact if my child is struggling to settle in?” gives you a useful next step to record and follow up.

Ask how safety arrangements work

During the visit, ask the team to explain visitor entry, authorised collection of children, supervision and the response to illness or an emergency. Find out whom parents contact if a collection arrangement changes.

These are questions to discuss with the campus. Ask for the current procedures rather than assuming the arrangements are identical at every school.

Check the journey and any daycare needs

Give the team your address and ask whether a school transport route is available. Confirm the proposed pick-up and drop-off arrangements for your child before making a decision around transport.

If you expect to travel by car, plan how you will check the route during the times you would normally travel. Think about whether the journey will work for your family across a full school week.

CV Raman Nagar and Indiranagar have on-site daycare. If you need it, ask the relevant campus about eligible ages, hours and availability for your child.

Keep financial questions specific to your campus

Ask your chosen campus for the complete fee breakdown, what is included, payment dates and refund terms. You can also read the fee FAQ on your chosen campus page before the visit. Use the appointment to clarify the details relevant to your child’s grade.

Understand what comes after the visit

NCFE’s registration order is:

  1. Enquire.

  2. Fill in the application form.

  3. Arrange a campus visit.

  4. Programme briefing.

  5. Meet the Principal.

  6. Offer of admission, subject to a place being available in the requested grade.

The campus team arranges the Principal meeting and explains what you and your child need to prepare. Before you leave the visit, confirm the next appointment, any outstanding documents and the person to contact for follow-up questions.

Example questions for different stages

For a child starting Pre-Primary

  • How do you help children settle into the daily routine, and whom should we contact if settling in is difficult?

  • What should we know about meals, personal-care routines and authorised collection?

  • If we need daycare at CV Raman Nagar or Indiranagar, what ages, hours and places are available?

For a child transferring into Grade 6

  • How can we help our child adjust from their current school’s learning routine?

  • How do teachers share progress and identify when additional support may help?

  • Which report cards and transfer documents are required, and when should we submit them?

Example: a useful note after the visit

Keep a short record rather than relying on memory. For example:

Campus and grade: Mandur, Grade 6.
Discussed: learning routines and communication with parents.
Still to confirm: transport route availability and the document-submission dates.
Next step: confirm the programme briefing appointment with the campus team.

This is a sample note, not a record of a real visit. Replace it with the answers from your chosen campus and add the contact the team gives you.

Arrange your visit through the campus team

Use the process page for CV Raman Nagar, Indiranagar, Mandur or Ballari (Bellary).

If you have not begun the process, start with an enquiry. Share your preferred campus and grade so the team can guide you through the application and visit arrangements.

Registrations open for AY 2027–28
