Most admission confusion comes from not knowing the order of things — what happens first, what you need ready, and what is actually being assessed. This guide sets out the whole process from first enquiry to first day.
The detail below reflects our CV Raman Nagar campus, a 7.5-acre campus running Pre-Primary to Grade 12. The stages are the same across our campuses, though grade ranges and some specifics differ, so do confirm with the campus you are applying to.
The six steps, in order
Enquire and register. Send an online enquiry or call the campus with your child's name, date of birth and the grade you are applying for.
Visit the campus. Book a tour — walk the grounds, meet the team, and see the classrooms, labs and play areas for yourself. We would always rather you came and looked.
Submit the application. Complete the form and submit the documents listed below.
Parent–child interaction. A warm, age-appropriate interaction with your child, and a short conversation with parents. For Grades 1 and above this includes the Assessment of Basic Competency.
Offer and fee payment. On selection, confirm the seat by paying the admission fee within the given window.
Welcome to NCFE. Complete enrolment, collect the welcome kit, and get ready for the first day.
Admission to any grade remains subject to seat availability in that grade.
Age criteria — the actual numbers
Age is reckoned by the calendar year, in line with Karnataka State norms. For the 2026–27 academic year at CV Raman Nagar:
Pre-Primary 1: 3 years
Pre-Primary 2: 4 years
Pre-Primary 3: 5 years
Grade 1: 5 years and 10 months as on 1 June 2026
Our Pre-Primary programme is ECCE-based — Early Childhood Care Education — structured across Levels 1 to 3, preparing children for primary school through their social, emotional, cognitive and physical development rather than through early formal academics.

For Grade 1 to Grade 12, the application should additionally be enclosed with:
Transfer Certificate from the previous school (original, or STS Online TC)
SATS Online TC
Conduct Certificate

Community Certificate, if applicable
We accept students from all CBSE-recognised schools and from State Board schools, on production of a Transfer Certificate duly signed by the authorised officers of the Educational Department. Requirements vary slightly by grade — the admissions team will confirm the exact list for your child once you enquire.
What the Assessment of Basic Competency is
For admission to Grades 1 to 12, placement is based on performance in the Assessment of Basic Competency, a short assessment conducted by the school.
It is worth being clear about what this is for. It is not a competitive entrance examination, and it is not designed to catch your child out. It establishes where your child currently is in the core areas, so that we can place them appropriately and know from day one where they may need support. A child who finds part of it difficult is not thereby disqualified — that information is precisely what makes good teaching possible.
The most useful preparation is a good night's sleep and a calm morning. Coaching a child for it tends to produce anxiety without producing insight.
The parent–child interaction
For the early years this is an informal, age-appropriate interaction — we are watching how your child engages, plays and communicates, not testing them.
For older students, following the interaction or assessment, a meeting is arranged where parents and student meet the Principal and the Board of Management. This is genuinely a two-way conversation: we discuss your child's academic needs, and you get to ask us anything. Bring your questions.
Confirming the seat
On selection you will receive an offer, and the seat is confirmed by paying the admission fee within the stated window. Ask for the full annual picture in writing at this point — admission fee, tuition, transport, books, uniform and activity charges — so there are no surprises later in the year.
Practical things worth knowing before day one
Transport is on GPS-tracked buses with trained drivers and caretakers, on routes across the campus catchment, subject to availability. Confirm your route and boarding point early.
Campus safety is gated and CCTV-monitored, with supervision through the day and biometric attendance for every student.
Class sizes are kept to a low ratio of around 15:1.

Uniform, shoes and ID card are required daily, so collect these ahead of the rush.
Questions parents ask us
When do admissions open?
Admissions for the coming academic year open well ahead of it, and popular entry grades fill early. Enquire as soon as you are seriously considering us rather than waiting for a deadline.
Can we apply mid-year?
Often yes, subject to seat availability in the grade. Mid-year moves are common in Bangalore and we handle them routinely — speak to the campus directly.
What if we do not have the Transfer Certificate yet?
Tell the admissions team early. This is a very common situation and is usually handled with a written undertaking to submit the TC once the previous school issues it.
Does my child need to be coached for the assessment?
No. It is a placement assessment, not a competitive exam. Sleep, breakfast and a relaxed morning will serve your child better than preparation classes.
