FROM THE ACO’S DESK
Books are more than just collections of words—they are windows to new worlds, bridges to diverse perspectives, and keys to lifelong learning. As an Academic Coordinator at NCFE CVR, I have witnessed the transformational power of reading in shaping young minds and hearts. In an era dominated by digital screens, the timeless joy of holding a book, flipping its pages, and immersing oneself in its story remains unparalleled.
For children, books are not just tools for learning—they are portals to adventure, imagination, and empathy.
At NCFE CVR, the spirit of storytelling and the love for books inspired our Annual Day celebration themed Tales to Transit: The Magical World of Books. The students from Grades 3 to 5 will bring classic tales to life through performances that will showcase their creativity and connection to literature. The event aims to underscore the profound impact of books in nurturing creativity and confidence.
Reading is a vital skill that transcends academics. It shapes a child’s cognitive, emotional, and social development in several ways.
At NCFE, we are passionate about creating a culture of reading. Here are some of our initiatives:
Class Libraries: Each classroom features its own library, stocked with age-appropriate and engaging books to encourage independent reading.
Book Club: Our Book Club provides a platform for students to share their thoughts on their favourite reads, fostering a community of readers who inspire one another.
Thematic Events: From book fairs to literature-based activities, we celebrate the joy of books throughout the year.
Parents play an essential role in fostering a love for books. Here are a few tips:
Be a Role Model: Let your children see you reading regularly—it inspires them to follow suit.
Create a Reading Routine: Dedicate time daily for family reading.
Encourage Choice: Allow children to select books that align with their interests.
Discuss Stories: Engage in conversations about the books they read to deepen their understanding.
We believe that reading is more than a skill—it is an adventure, a joy, and a gift for life. Through initiatives like our class libraries and Book Club, we aim to cultivate a generation of avid readers who embrace the world with curiosity and empathy.
As we celebrate the joys of reading, let us remember the words of George R.R. Martin: “A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies. The man who never reads lives only one.”
Together, let’s unlock the power of books and inspire our children to live those thousand lives, one page at a time.
